We understand that dental issues or emergencies can happen when our office is closed. However, if you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, ALWAYS call 911.

How to handle some common, non-life-threatening dental emergencies / issues:

• Broken tooth or filling: If a small piece of tooth or filling breaks off and the tooth is not sensitive, this is probably something that can wait until we can schedule you an appointment during the day.  If the tooth or area around the tooth has fractured and it is sensitive, bleeding, swollen or causing mouth irritations, call our office. The after-hours contacts are listed below.
• Crown came off: Typically, a permanent or temporary crown will only fit on the tooth one way. Use some toothpaste to coat the inside of the crown and place it back on the tooth. This will act as a “glue” to keep it in place and not allow tissue to grow up around the tooth or implant, which actually can happen fairly quickly. Then call our office right away during business hours to schedule an appointment to fix it permanently.
• Damaged or missing oral appliance or denture: This is not typically not an emergency but you should call our office during normal business hours so that we can replace or repair the damaged or missing appliance or denture.
• Facial swelling or throat constriction: If you are experiencing facial swelling causing your eyes to close or throat to constrict, this is a true medical emergency and you should call 911.
• Uncontrollable mouth pain: Most oral pain can be controlled by taking two 200mg Ibuprofen tablets every 4 to 6 hours.  If you are  experiencing mouth pain that cannot be controlled with over-the-counter pain medication such as Ibuprofen, please contact us using the information provided below.
